The trail guide often rides with digital camera in hand and shoots many pictures during the rides. The more pictures that we take, the better the chances for some great shots.

Mushroom Photos

We find mushrooms too irresistible to ride past without taking a picture. We will also pick the edible ones. There are thousands of species of wild mushrooms, most are potentially poisonous.

Please note that we do not hunt psychoactive, hallucinogenic, or "funny" mushrooms of any kind and we wouldn’t recognize them if we found them.

The cartoon was originally placed on our contact page, but few viewers noticed it. We have reprinted it here in an enlarged format.

Big is quite a character himself, so this cartoon depicts him accurately.

Big & Jake at Play Slideshow

In mid-August of 2008, we enjoyed a camp over at Keenes Horse Camp. Big and Jake were both five year olds (Jake belonged to Steve Auman of Aumans Taxidermy). Although we had ridden together for three days, Big and Jake had not been tied within reach of one another at any time during this trip. But while we cleaned up our camp in preparation to leave, they were close enough to one another that we got a real show.

Five Plus Three Equals Eighty is a true story about five friends who ride eighty miles of the Pacific Crest National Scenic Trail (PCNST) with three pack horses in tow.

Originally, five hard copies of the book were made, one for each of the friends. We have recreated our copy to post here...
